Chondrocalcinosis

 

  • Meniscal calcification bilaterally noted.
  • Occurs due to deposition of Calcium crystals.
  • CPPD (Calcium Pyrophosphate Deposition Disease) is a very common cause of Chondrocalcinosis.
  • Trauma, Hypercalcaemia (as in Hyperparathyroidism), Haemachromatosis, Ochronosis, Wilson disease are other causes.
  • Arthritides, Osteoarthritis and Gout may cause this condition.
